Safety

The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation hopes for a great, safe ride for the 20th Annual Boulevard Lakefront Tour.

Helmets are recommended for Boulevard Lakefront Tour participants.
For all three routes, you will be riding on city streets with traffic.

  • Please uphold all traffic laws
  • Stop at red lights
  • Signal when turning
  • Ride on the right and pass on the left
  • Say "on your left" to alert riders you are passing

The Basics

For a great Boulevard Lakefront Tour experience, please don’t forget:

  • A copy of your registration confirmation
  • Your helmet
  • Your driver's license or ID and some cash
  • A water bottle
  • A lock: Bike racks will be available before the ride and at the festival
  • Recommended: sunscreen, a spare inner tube, pump and tire levers
  • Please don’t wear headphones during the ride, it’s against the law
  • Do a safety check to make sure your bike is in good working order or take it to your local bike shop and have them take a look
  • Check out www.biketraffic.org/safebicycling for tips on getting ready to bicycle safely

Remember to hydrate often and enjoy the snacks at the rest stops to keep your energy up during your ride. Proper preparation for the Boulevard Lakefront Tour will go a long way towards your enjoyment of the event.
